It’s amazing how quickly we forget the struggle once we have mastered a new skill. I was putting my contact lenses in this morning, I nailed it first try in each eye after weeks of what can only be described as disastrous attempts. I was pretty much just poking myself in the eyes each morning. Not this morning though, I managed with ease to get my lenses in. It was then that I was struck with the realisation that I had almost forgotten what the struggle felt like before. I was so confident with my new skill that I had pretty much deleted what it felt like to not be able to do it. It’s amazing how quickly we can forget what felt tough at the time, in the light of mastering a new skill. So, this is a shout out to anyone who is currently in that place of learning something new and finding it tough. This will pass if you just keep going. Don’t give up, embrace the grit. After all it's the grit in the oyster that makes the pearl.
